Keaton Beach Fishing report August 7-8
Rain, Rain go away come again... next year? Tough to catch trout with the sun in ....they just don't respond well to live pinfish when they can't see them?
Well, we got wet and beat pretty much Saturday with few trout and a few short reds before the storms caught us and wet us. First folks I wet this year. Sorry I don't have much of a report except to say that the w-i-n-d is forecast to blow all week and will help the trout fishing, if the sun is out, otherwise this is a tough time to catch them if it's overcast. Oh yeah, we ambushed a school of Yellowtail jacks( Jack Crevalle) to 8-9 pounds earlier in the day but there were no other species mixed in them when they jumped the ballyhoo.Fun to catch not to keep though.
I am still fishing live pinfish under Back Bays in 6.5' on the incoming tide with a stiff breeze. I am using a 48" leader under my Thunders and advise you use a longer leader, too, to get results.
Will hope to have a better report next week .
