Keaton Beach Fishing Report July 17-18 2015

Keaton Beach Fishing Report July 17 - 18
Well, I got stuck on nine last week as I had Mike Flippo and Mike Coleman of Tifton, Ga. out and we landed nine trout and a 26" red for Mike Coleman. We fished in 3.5 feet to land the red and 6.5 feet of water for the trout. Live pinfish rigged 48" under Back Bay Thunders were the ticket.
Sunday, I had Ben and Rhonda Amerson of Macon, Ga. out and we also caught 9 trout, a 24" red ( Ben's first ever) threw back three short reds and Ben landed a 18-20 pound Blacktip Shark. The trout and Blacktip came out of 6 - 6.5 feet of water while the reds were caught in 2.5 - 3 feet of water. We used live pinfish under Back Bays to land all our fish Sunday.
I took Joyce scalloping Saturday, our first trip of the year, and folks it took less than 30 minutes to bring up our limit of 4 gallons and we never got over 75 feet from the boat. Speaking of boats...Yikes Saturday was busier than the Fourth of July with more than 400 boats out there. I haven't seen that many boats in one place in 6 years that was the year the scallops were in front of Cedar Isle to the channel.
As always if you are going scalloping Fly Your Dive Flags! It's the LAW!
