Keaton Beach Fishing report July 10 -11
Yikes was there a Huge bunch of folks scalloping over the Fourth at Keaton or What? Somewhere over 400 boats were out there according to my reports.
We just had to steer north of everyone and catch our trout and reds elsewhere.
Friday, I had Lee Crowe with Jackie and Tracie White of Greensboro, Ga. out and we caught 13 trout with two over 20" long. Two of our keepers were caught on Assassin's Opening Night 4 inch shads run 38" under the Original Cajun Thunder while the balance were caught using live pinfish rigged 48" under Back Bay Thunders. We fished 5.5 - 6.5 ft. of water for our catch.
Saturday, with no breeze, the trout decided to take the Fourth off; so after 3.5 hours and no trout bite....we tried for reds landing 4 keepers to 26 inches and threw back 9 short reds. We fished small pinfish and spots under Back Bay Thunders in 2.5' -3' of water. We did manage 3 trout right on the high tide including a nice 23" fish for Jackie.
Oh and the scallopers all got their limit.... as far as I can tell.... or at least everyone who I talked to said they got their limit.
