Keaton Beach Fishing report Memorial Day Weekend
Trout have been much better this week as I suppose the fish are getting acclimated to the HOT water ( we fished 86 degrees today, Wednesday, in 6 feet of water) or we are finally figuring them out.
We had 9 trout Sunday for Steve Dixon and his pal both from Phenix City, Alabama, and then Pete Giddens and Kay Willingham of Ocilla, Ga. had 7 trout Monday; then 10 trout Tuesday, with two over 20 " long each day. We fished 4.5 - 6.5 feet deep most of the time each day. We were fishing with live pinfish under Back Bay Thunders.
Wednesday, Bobby Stalvey, Greg Farrah and Bobby Watsford of Valdosta, Ga. caught 15 trout on board One More Cast with a 24"( Greg from the middle of the boat) Sow and a 22 inch trout also caught. We fished 4.5' - 5.5' for 10 of the trout then fished 3' - 3.5' late in the tide for the balance. The Gulf was 83 degrees in the a.m. and 87 degrees.
Jack Minchey and a friend of Eatonton, Ga. was down Tuesday and had 6 trout with two over 21" long fishing in 7'- 8' ft. of water on live pinfish under Cajun Thunders.
Be safe over the Holiday weekend and be mindful of the crowds of folks who rarely go out on the water but feel obligated to go boating over the Memorial Day weekend.
