Keaton Beach Fishing Report December 12 -13 2014

Keaton Beach Fishing report December 12-13
Well, I suppose you could say we had a last hurrah? the warm 50's and 70's temperatures of last week have been supplanted with 30's and 50's and the water temps have dropped over 13 degrees as of my last info. More than likely by the weekend the Gulf will be below 50 degrees down from 65 we fished in Sunday last.
Last Friday Billy Pillow, Dave Malone and I caught 9 keeper trout and a bunch of shorts on Paul Brown Devils, two on MirrOdines, a few on Bite-A-Bait Fighters, and the balance on Assassin Limetreuse five inch shads.
One report ( sorry I do not have the names ) some folks from Valdosta, who caught two trout over 6 pounds on Saturday in the fog was backed up by the photo of Anna from Sea Hag at Keaton Beach holding them up.
I had Ben and Keith Golden of Thomasville , Ga out Sunday, and we managed one trout in three hours with a negative low tide in the morning, then found short fish ( a slew of them, 30-40 ) in 3 - 4 feet of water; only to move off of them and spend a couple more hours without a keeper, then when the second front of the day went through the trout turned on? Weird doesn't cover it. The air temperature dropped ten or more degrees and the tide changed and started out and we came in with our 15 trout in spite of the lousy conditions and the cold. We fished in 3 - 3.5 feet of water with live shrimp under Back Bay Thunders to catch these trout in 65.5 degrees of water.
I don't see much improvement for the weekend with forecasts of low 30's each day, but if you do go, look to fish very slow and be in or near a creek.
